About Homeward Pilgrims

A New Chapter for Caballe Family

After several years of sharing our family’s faith journey as Caballe Family, I felt called to rebrand with a clearer mission and a name that better reflects what I share today.

Homeward Pilgrims is the continuation of that same story — the same family, the same faith — with a renewed focus on Catholic family travel and pilgrimage with kids.

🌿 Hola and welcome to Homeward PilgrimsI’m Julai!

I’m a Catholic wife and mom, and a pilgrim at heart.

I started this blog to document our Catholic family trips and faith reflections. Over time, I realized families don’t just need inspiration — they also need practical help for planning pilgrimages with real life in mind (kids, naps, snacks, strollers, budgets, and all).

So in October 2025, Homeward Pilgrims was born.

✝️ The Mission

Homeward Pilgrims helps Catholic moms and families plan meaningful pilgrimages and live their faith joyfully — both on the road and at home.

Through practical guides, printable resources, and spiritual encouragement, I’m here to help you raise faith-filled kids while making sweet family memories.

I believe family life is a pilgrimage too — but I also know a trip feels a lot more peaceful when you know where to stay, what to pack, and what to expect, especially when you’re traveling with kids (and sometimes a baby!).

Our first family pilgrimage to Lourdes (2018) when our firstborn was 10 months old.
A family of four sits on a curb in a grassy area near the Sanctuary of Lourdes, with the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary visible in the background. The parents and two young boys are smiling and dressed in warm clothing, enjoying a sunny day. The tree-lined path and the historic sanctuary enhance the serene and picturesque setting. Encouragement for Faith-filled Living

We’re not just travelers — we’re trying to live the liturgical year, build faith at home, and simplify family life so we can focus on what really matters.

Whether it’s decluttering during Lent or learning to dress modestly with joy, I share from our real-life experiences — imperfect but sincere.

A smiling family of five poses inside a grand stone church with tall stained glass windows and a large crucifix overhead. The mother cradles a newborn in a white gown for the baby's baptism, surrounded by her partner and two young boys in coordinated white shirts and shorts. A decorated altar with flowers and intricate artwork stands in the background, adding a reverent atmosphere.

🕊️ Why “Homeward Pilgrims”?

Because that’s exactly what we are.

We love visiting holy places, but we’re also a home-loving family.

We still smile remembering that on the second day of our five-day pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, my husband and our eldest son were already asking, “When are we going home, Mama?”

And during our 2024 trip to Lourdes, our second son asked the same question — even before we arrived!

Every time we return from a trip, the moment my husband parks the car outside our home, he always says with a contented sigh, “Ahhh, this is the best part of the vacation!”
We are pilgrims. But we’re always on the journey homeward — to God, and to each other.

Excited to go home after visiting the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Meritxell in Andorra.
